- Like any good dance there are partners,

- Their role is to complement the other,

- At times leading or teaching one another,

- And such it is with that of our lives,

- Only the partners are those within,

- Yet their faces remain seemingly unnoticed,

- While their opposition in their forces collide,

-Their steps echo in our minds as our memories,

- Many times sadly they drown out our present moment,

- As we go through the inevitable changes in life,

- The trials we face briskly sweep us across the dance floor,

- While the blessings gracefully twirl us about,

- Though we might only wish to be faced by one partner,

- God gives us both and takes away as He remains a teacher,

- The music keeps playing even if we stop dancing,

- Because our internal dance partners keep on moving,

- Trials can be blessings when we move with them in stride,

- Blessings can become trials when they cause us to stop moving,

- The Lord’s dance of life is meant to be glorious,

- His hand is always outstretched waiting to be our lead,

- As he perfects our form through trials and blessings,

- We are graced by an intimate, life-long partner,

-As well as a dance to remember…

- Life can tend to fly by so quickly without us realizing it…

- Are you going through the motions in life?

- What if you were giving everything you had in life today?

- What if you reached into the heart of another each day?

- What if you became all you were meant to be?

- Are you willing to step out in faith no matter what?

- I believe there is so much to learn from life stories…

- Are you really sharing your own life story?

I am amazed by how much you can learn when you simply listen to the heart of another person. For those of us in this world that are not short on words, we can learn much from that concept. I know I can. Certainly, there is so much to learn from the sage advice of those that have lived decades beyond what you have. We can learn so much from walking through a cemetery and hearing the cries of stories lost, accomplished and desired. We simply have to be willing to stop and listen. We can soar to new heights of learning when we talk to someone that is staring death in the face. We can learn again what we lost so long ago when we are stirred by the freshness and vigor of a child as they live life in a way that adult’s seem to have forgotten.

If I look at one of the most meaningful parts of my life, it has certainly been the people I have met. Many times it was people that I met in ways so beautifully unexpected. I was moved to write this because of someone’s story this evening that I was graced with. I was reminded of how wonderful it is to take time to smell the roses and to allow life to continue at its torrid pace while you give undivided attention to another person without any hesitation. I am sure I only reached the tip of the iceberg of her story. I am sure that there is so much more. What I heard this evening was much deeper than I ever imagined. I count it is a blessing to learn from the life story of another through lending them an ear and heart of compassion. I can respect and admire someone that has faced a litany of adversity and overcame it. I believe it is our personal struggles, trials and tribulations in life that teach us the most. I can look at my own life and validate that.

It is very easy for anyone to see that the world is dynamically divided on spiritual views. I believe that the majority consensus in the United States is that “religious people” as viewed by the culture need to uphold some higher standard of living in which sin and character failure are impossible. I believe it is the call of all Christians to passionately strive to live a life that produces fruit and showers the world with unexpected and humble blessing instead of injecting pain into it. They should strive to not live a life full of hypocrisy that caters to their selfish desires or those of their peers that seek to impose themselves on us and our lives. That does not mean however that any person, including a Christian, is incapable of sin, wrong doing or character failure. Right there is truly where the beauty of God’s forgiveness and love for the world shows its face. It is the simple fact that proves how as a human race we need God so much, and always will until the end of existence as we know it on Earth.

What’s Your Story?

In truth, we can learn from each person’s story. Don’t be afraid to share yours! So please share yours with the world with a sense of passion and openness not merely through your words; but through your actions, your essence, how you listen, how you show compassion and how you display a zeal you bring forth in how you enjoy being alive. You never know who is listening to your story or who will be impacted for the rest of their lives by it as the seasons of life continue.

* Jeremiah 29:11

“ For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

God bless,

People tend to believe they need to become smarter, more efficient or wealthier to be able to pursue their dreams. I would like to challenge that philosophy. One thing I learned since becoming an entrepreneur in 1999, was that I needed to become the dumbest person in the office. Please allow me to explain.

I am not telling you that you need to lower your intelligence to achieve your dreams. I am also not telling you to lower your expectations of yourself to the point where you grow complacent and lazy. Nothing could be further from what I intend to communicate. Rather, if you are willing to make a few specific changes to your strategic outlook and overall leadership mentality, you can work towards ensuring your future is always brighter than your past. And you can bask in the knowledge that you became the dumbest person in the office.

Below are 6 simple guidelines to achieve this goal and strive toward a brighter future:

1.	Become increasingly humble – First and foremost, I believe you need to become increasingly comfortable facing rejection, personal challenge from peers, your team and other coaches. You need to always remain open to learning about yourself, how you affect others around you and how you can improve as a person. If you take on the role of a humble servant, even if you are the CEO of your company, you will be more able to achieve your dreams. If you have run your own business already, don’t be afraid to return to your roots and sweep the floors on occasion. This will help you remember where you came from, and what it took to follow the path of success that you now know. Make sure that no task is ever too small, as it may teach you something.

2.	Surround yourself with people that know more than you – It is imperative that you not only recognize you have weaknesses, but that you surround yourself with people that can continually handle those areas more effectively than you by applying their natural gifts and unique abilities.

3.	Build depth into your team(s) in all areas possible – I have found, when possible, it is prudent to have redundancy at least two people deep in all areas of the company, even if it requires you to use part-time, contracted or outsourced help. I also strive to hire those who can offer more value than simply an ability to fulfill a role as advertised. This opens up the possibility that they could help you in new ways as the business changes, and gives the team greater confidence in the company’s ability to weather a future staffing change.

4.	Always see your future as bigger than your past – No matter how bad the personal loss when a team member leaves, it is critical that you focus on how your business could be better through replacing them (new perspective, new insights, new talents, etc.) or through rebuilding the organization without filling the position left by their departure. Continue to hire people that make your team stronger each time you lose someone or hire someone new. Don’t just hire someone that matches your minimum requirements and keeps you at the level you were before. Always look to upgrade your team so your future remains brighter than your past.

5.	Become a stronger delegator – Many leaders and entrepreneurs are poor at delegation. They tend to want to be micro-managers because of what they know and their internal need to feel as if they are control (even if the reality is that they are not). The better you become at more quickly delegating to the most appropriate person, the more effective you will become in producing consistent results and doing the behaviors necessary to achieve your dreams.

6.	Spend the majority of your business time focused on your unique abilities – Don’t waste your time doing tasks that simply keep you busy and drain you of time and resources. Many times people do tasks that are only competent (or actually incompetent) rather than focusing their efforts in areas where they have passion and can produce truly excellent results. You should focus more intensely on what you do best and try to get to the point where that is where you spend 80%+ of your business time. The clearer you get about yourself, the better. You can do so by using personal profiling/inventory tools like Kolbe, DISC or a Spiritual Gifts Inventory.

I believe the true beauty in becoming the dumbest person in the office is that you ensure you are able to achieve goals more easily because you have increased support, clarity and confidence as you take each step necessary towards your vision! I have personally found one of the biggest benefits to becoming the dumbest person in the office is that I have learned to build an increasingly more capable team around me. I have been truly blessed by working with them, and have nothing but kudos to extend to them as they continue to show me their unique talents and abilities. They replace my weaknesses with the blessing of their strengths, and in so doing, they have allowed our company to become more and more capable of growth and the ability to run self-sufficiently which should be a goal for any entrepreneur by my estimate. .

I help my coaching clients focus on matters like these so they can see their business become more efficient, profitable and scalable, if desired. I also help them achieve better balance professionally and personally so they can see their business truly work to support their life purpose and vision.
Don’t be afraid of losing your top talent!

Many times the old adage, “when one door opens another closes” is true. Indeed, the new door allows you enter into a world of endless possibilities for positive change. I don’t dismiss how emotional things can get when you lose top talent or an employee that you have created a great bond with personally. I have had key staff leave me several times after being with me for several years, and in one case, without any notice at all. And regardless of the reasons for their departures, it would not have been prudent to let those departures affect how the remaining team was being managed during those moments. But I can say that I learned how to better build and manage my team over time. Please allow me to share a few of the lessons I learned so your company can operate with greater confidence, as mine does now.

Top 11 Ways to Build and Manage a Team with Maximum Confidence

Always see your future as bigger than your past – No matter how bad the personal loss when a team member leaves, it is critical that you focus on how your business could be better through replacing them (new perspective, new insights, new talents, etc.) or through rebuilding the organization without filling the position left by their departure.

Care for the emotional well-being of each person beyond the business – Too many times leaders focus primarily on addressing the financial needs and day-to-day demands of their staff. I challenge you to intentionally focus on ways to engage each team member at an emotional level and to encourage a balanced life at home and in the workplace. It is also important you keep an eye out for key team members that are overworking themselves simply because of their internal drive, not deadlines truly imposed by anyone else.

Communicate to your team with a uniform message – Ensure all of your team understands why team members are leaving (regardless of firing or quitting) so the message is consistent. I feel this is best done through a company meeting such as a team lunch so the full message can be communicated and discussed.

Create unique ways to maintain an open door policy – My firm has instituted things such as happiness lunches so each team member has face time with the owner or management. This gives them an opportunity to voice questions or concerns that might not otherwise be heard.

Make sure the company financials are well balanced – I find many business owners or managers are being compensated at dramatically higher levels than most of their regular employees, inadvertently reinforcing the idea that management is taking advantage of and underpaying good talent (and if you don’t think your employees access to or have a good idea of what you make—think again). But don’t get me wrong–I’m not saying any business owner, partner or leader should limit their earning potential. I am simply saying that if you look at the entire payroll schedule, make sure you feel like you are either giving employees as much as the company can truly afford or make sure you feel your contribution to them is greater than your reward back, conceptually speaking.

Never allow the desires of any one employee to influence your financial/strategic decisions – Too many business owners are afraid to lose that key team member who constantly places their financial needs on the table during reviews or discussion with management. I have found that it is wise to be ok with losing any one person that cares more about what they are compensated than about how the team as a whole can succeed.

Build depth into your team in all areas possible – I have found, when possible, it is prudent to have redundancy at least two people deep in all areas of the company. I also like to make sure anyone I hire has more value than simply an ability to fulfill a role as advertised. This opens up the possibility that they could help you in new ways as the business changes, and gives the team greater confidence to weather a future staffing change.

Make sure your hiring process is focused on core values first – Have a unique and intentional process that is built to ensure core values are the main measuring stick when hiring. Ask questions that dig deeper into who a candidate is as a person, in addition to their skills and experience. Care about what they stand for in life, as it is bound to affect not only their work performance, but how they fit within any team or organization.

Offer the strongest benefits possible – Offering well-rounded and solid benefits to your staff—regardless of your business size—helps focus on stability and security for the team. I have found this to be a key retention factor, even when otherwise unable to offer higher, more competitive wages.

Don’t allow any one client to represent more than 10% of your annual business – This is pretty straight forward, but I have often seen businesses become greatly impacted after losing a key account that makes up a substantial portion of their revenue. The loss of this type of client either forces an owner to let people go, or people jump ship of their own volition because their confidence in the firm and its future has been shaken.

Focus on win-win transitions with staff, not burning bridges – I try to follow a policy of giving more transitional notice than typical, often between 30 to 120 days, depending upon the situation. This policy encourages employees to likewise give you extended notice in return, and to trust that you do care about each of them, even if you are forced to let one of them go. It is also important not to be emotional during this transition so you don’t burn a bridge. After all, you never know when you might need their help or if they might end up working for or speaking with a potential future client.

Current economic conditions have presented more reasons than ever to be self-employed, and many more reasons for talent to leave you. So don’t lead in fear, but build a team for the long-haul and be ready to weather any storm. I help my coaching clients focus on matters like these so they can see their business become more efficient, profitable and scalable, if desired. I also help them achieve better balance professionally and personally so they can see their business truly work to support their life purpose and vision.

- We wake up each day full of expectations,

- Expectations that cry out from the desires of our heart,

- From the plans that we have set for our day,

- From the unfilled yearnings that we strive after in life,

- Many times we live our lives with our eyes closed,

- And the worst part about it all is we believe our eyes our open,

- Light at the end of any tunnel could be natural or man made,

- The tunnel could be filled with radiant energy from the sun,

- It could however be filled with brightness from artificial lighting,

- We don’t recognize it until we face the tunnel’s opening,

- Realizing that then we are confronted with a massive question,

- Recently I have was confronted to decide what to do when my world was turned upside down unexpectedly,

- We all have a point, in which we can only handle so much and reach a point of feeling overwhelmed,

- I pray that the openness from my heart speaks to yours now,

-I am sure your stories ebbs and flows would differ from mine without a doubt,

- I however was challenged in three major areas of passion as the picture in my life’s kaleidoscope changed,

- A best friend of a decade, uprooted themselves from my life because of the convictions of the faith I stand on,

- A woman that I always felt was a kindred spirit sought me out and fell in love with me,

- Though we cannot be together because of the sacredness of the marriage covenant that she stands upon,

- I could also never overlook the increasing level of leadership responsibility that faces me in my career,

- My fatherly heart to provide for my team’s well-being and lives well beyond their paycheck,

- My desire to compassionately show inner strength and love to my clients well beyond a service I could offer them,

- My passion to lead with passion that can get misconstrued, while being overshadowed as mere salesmanship,

- There is only one way I can explain the peace I feel about the losses and storms my emotions and mind face now,

- It cannot be explained by mere human understanding,

- I for one am confident that it comes from a peace that God has provided to my heart to minister to me,

- As I deal with a tidal wave of life altering change that is rocking my boat and testing my faith,

- So my question to you is what will you do when you are facing your giants?

- Will you try and slay and conquer them based upon the limitations of your life experience and those around you?

- What will you do when your world is turned upside down?

- It is bound to happen to us throughout our lives because life is about the journey, not the destination.

- We cannot control the events of our day no matter how hard we attempt to,

- However, the choice in how we respond to our life is something we will forever control.

* Philippians 4:7

* Hebrews 4:15-16

Many times, I find companies only look at improving their sales and marketing programs when business is booming and cash-flow is strong. It is ironic, then, that although these organizations have cash to spend and aspirations for improvement, they become distracted and pulled in too many directions to really focus on what matters. Now, if you’re thinking this article is going to be some sales pitch on why you should hire an ad agency or marketing firm to update all of your marketing materials when you could be facing cash flow problems, you are dead wrong! Marketing is important, and we will discuss this. However, what I want you to consider is a whole new way to revolutionize your sales strategy, how you package the unique wisdom of your firm and how you position yourself in the marketplace to blow away your competition. I am going to help you walk the bridge between sales and marketing and see how they link together.

Following are a few fundamental changes you can make to your process that in my experience, will set-up your firm to thrive in any economic climate. Unfortunately, many firms wait to learn this in a recessive market. But moving forward, my goal is to help you position your firm in a way that stands out even more in a down market. So let’s get into the details.

Change your Sales Qualification Process – Most people think their wisdom is packaged in the glitz and glamour of their marketing materials. But beyond that, how you collect client input and manage each and every conversation is a form of packaging. You can differentiate yourselves in the market if you stand out in every way. And that all starts with the first conversation you have with a lead. If you haven’t already used or explored the Sandler Sales System, I would encourage you to do so as a first step. I believe its atypical approach to sales and business relationship management can change your business and sales process forever. If used effectively, you will get more “qualified decisions” instead of the typical “think it overs” that are a waste of your time, money and motivation.

Setup a “Monkey’s Paw” & Charge for ALL Proposals – The “Monkey’s Paw” concept was introduced to me through the Sandler system mentioned above. Never mind the name—just know that this concept allows you to setup a structure that gets you paid for all proposal development and consulting you do beyond your initial call or meeting with a prospect. Most people deliver these proposals for free. With the monkey’s paw, you offer it as a credit back against any proposal that is presented if they engage you in the full service, regardless of what options they pick. If they don’t work with you, at least you got paid for your work—each and every time. You don’t give favors to clients and treat them different than prospects. Everyone is treated equally.

Create Unique Value by Creating a Packaged Client Experience (Your “Discovery” Process) – If you want to stand out in a market, then for crying out loud, don’t do what everyone else is doing! Look at how you’ve done things in the past and how you do them now. Look at what you do better than other firms, and use those things as focal points in how you build your process. In addition, focus on identifying ways you could remove internal or client-side frustrations based upon history or surveys (companies that have been around for decades sometimes do this poorly—or not at all—and it really hurts them). Once you have collected the data, then create a graphic overview that breaks down clearly identified stages of how each client works with you from the initial meeting through to product/service fulfillment. This will help your sales force speak in a unified voice, and will ensure people can see you have a unique approach based upon experience and a proven track record. I am confident that all products or services can fit into this system. For instance, a graphic overview can be created and positioned in retail environments as well, even if it is used as a point-of-sale display vs. a face-to-face sales presentation. I don’t care how good the quality of all of your stuff is—if you don’t position yourselves to have a clearly unique approach, you will not reach your potential.

Is your firm positioned uniquely enough that you actually stand out more and have a better closing rate, even in a down economy? If so, then you probably already have a lot of these ideas in place. But there is always room for improvement. As an example, my firm operated for several years with none of these systems in place and then implemented a first and second version of this approach, with the second improving upon the initial attempt. Now, we are looking to launch version “3.0” in 2010 based upon 2008/2009 client feedback. This is what will happen if a company is truly committed to ensuring their future distinction and success. Your clients will be your greatest teachers if you continually commit resources to this process and continue to cultivate an improvement strategy. The benefits for our firm have included ROI improvement through workflow efficiency, a consistent improvement of closing rates and an increase in the amount we have been able to charge for services and discovery consulting ( our “monkey’s paw”). Implementation of these processes has made our client experiences stronger, and our new 2010 enhancements will further improve efficiency and customer experiences.

You probably don’t have the issues my firm had about 7-8 years ago, and I wouldn’t assume you waste company time and resources with free proposals. I also doubt you can see areas for improvement in your marketing programs to increase sales closing and lead generation effectiveness (you’re probably getting an abundance of leads that are being closed at an even better rate than last year). In addition, there is clearly a lot more that could be said about a number of sales and marketing topics, and I plan to further explore them over time. In the meantime, I welcome any questions you may have about how the aforementioned processes could be applied to your specific business model.

I help my coaching clients focus on matters like these so they can see their business become more efficient, profitable and scalable, if desired. I also help them achieve better balance professionally and personally so they can see their business truly work to support their life purpose and vision. If you want to find out more about how this could be leveraged in your world, or if you want to discuss a business problem you are facing, feel free to contact me or call me personally at 717-615-2274.
- May times too consumed to realize the beauty lost,

- In the simplest forms of heart-felt emotion,

- That we failed to release through expressive living,

- Far too many of us believe that tomorrow is the day,

- The day in which we will be caught up better,

- One that will allow us to show others love,

- I truly believe a life well lived is a culmination of many individual days focused on the fullness of showing love,

- We have the power to help others feel overcome,

- By simply stopping to ask them: “what can I do for you today?”,

- We can have compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience abound in us and it is a great joy,

- Though God tells us that all of these things are bound together by love as we live each day,

- No matter how much success, wealth or security we amass in life I set a challenge before us all,

- If you live and have not love today you had nothing,

- The Lord desires that in us faith, hope and love would remain,

- However He is clear the greatest of these is love,

- I pray that we would look to show it with a reckless abandon that doesn’t count on tomorrow,

- So if you seek your purpose in life but have more questions than answers,

- That could all stop today if you were ready,

- Ready to take flight for a new adventure,

- One where you realize you have no control over the results in your life,

- Though you can easily create great deposit and affect on others and their lives today,

- What a great life driving purpose it truly is,

- To have the ability to consistently desire and express true love to all people,

- Even those that seem difficult to show it to,

- Love is the most powerful element of the world,

- Have you shown love in a way today that inconvenienced your plans and stirred the heart of another in an unexpected way?

* 1 Corinthians 13:13

* Colossians 3:12-14

I certainly hope all of us in the world could relate to one thing. I would like to believe that within each human a span of heartfelt emotions would rise up when we see or interact with those who are in dire straits and great need. Privileged nations such as the United States have in many ways become blinded by a middle class that groans for more yet lives like royalty as you survey the entire planet. Each person has been created in the image of their creator, however was given no choice in the time, place or socio-economic status they were born into.

When was the last time that you made a real sacrifice to profoundly reach out to someone’s heart that didn’t expect it, yet desperately needed it?

I don’t mean simply dropping a few dollars into an offering plate or donation location that was easily parted with and done out of moral dignity or spiritual obedience alone. Many times giving of money when done from a pure heart is a beautiful thing. However giving of your time, giving from your heart through love, giving of your unique abilities and spiritual gifts or giving of your time or any resource when it challenges you and takes you out of your comfort zone is simply full of much more splendor and majesty.

God says in his word, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless I this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world” (James 1:27). You don’t need to need be a military soldier defending a nation to show similar courage in the name of worldly justice and more importantly love. There are modern, day-to-day heros waiting to cry out from the hearts of business men in Armani suits, the mothers that worked their way to a position of worldly success, the single professionals full of dreams/desires and so many others that hide righteous passion that could shine outward beyond a body clothed for appearance and worldly comfort.

There are so many ways to help those in need. We can step out in faith to journey on short or long-term mission trips to serve people we would never meet. I can say trading the ability to earn income and maintain our lives of security would be far outweighed by how much would penetrate our hearts and those we meet through those experiences bound by love and sacrifice. You certainly don’t need to travel the world to help those in need! There is a war to fight in the name of love in every community’s backyard. If you stop for a moment to see what you could give to fill a need that exists I promise you will not search for very long.

You could sponsor a child from various organizations that do a phenomenal job such as: World Vision, Compassion, and Child Fund (formerly Christian Children’s Fund). The small sacrifice in money each month dramatically changes lives in need. I can personally attest to that fact through the children I sponsor in Brazil. Most could give up luxury purchases or non-essential items such as premium cable channels or other forms of entertainment to afford this. It is an amazing gift to build a relationship with the children beyond the monetary help, and is easily done through sending letters of encouragement and hope or even being blessed with replacing your family vacation with a visit to their land. I was blessed to visit their communities and see the organization mobilize to impact their lives. Your children could have that brother or sister that they don’t have at home as they act as the family messenger of love through the letters or gifts. The business owners could sponsor children for each department or team member and allow them to write to them on company time making a deposit in their hearts that will pay far greater dividends than any bonus check in their bank ever could.

To all who have read this article I certainly hope you see that each of us could make a new impact in the world starting today. I pray that you would ask God to search your heart as you search your own and ask him to light a lantern of love from your heart to guide your future steps in a path that helps you find a new life purpose to become a defender of the weak…

If I was asked to pick out the most meaningful nugget of wisdom I have learned over the last decade of being an entrepreneur, it would be something called: The Entrepreneurial Time System™ from The Strategic Coach®. The concepts and types of days that support this system are property of this well known organization. I have been a client of for the last decade, and it has truly changed my life. I pray that by sharing my story, you might be inspired by the concepts and lessons I have learned. Discovering how your life can become better balanced can far surpass mere lessons in how to have a better business.

I truly believe that any truly successful business owner, leader or business professional should want to focus on life balance vs. an endless pursuit of success, material gain, etc. I know not only from personal experience, but in dealing with hundreds of clients that this goal is very elusive (and even more so in a down economic climate, as people tend to do even more hysterical activity than before, hoping that it keeps their business or career afloat).

When I was just starting out as an entrepreneur, I found myself easily working an 80-100 hour work week. Even if I worked less on weekends than I did during the week, I still worked every day. I also worked 12-18 hour days on a pretty regular basis. I had a mission and was determined to succeed. You might think that makes sense, especially for a young, unmarried man who was starting a business. And perhaps for a specified period of time, it might. But as I looked at how long I worked that way, and how many clients I see that continue to work this way decades after they have been in business, it really resonates in my heart as a deep-seated problem in today’s high-paced, high-tech economy.

Looking back, I probably never understood what “Free Day,” a term coined by The Strategic Coach®, really meant. I might have counted any day that was a weekend a Free Day or a day off because I worked from home, didn’t meet with clients directly or only worked part of a day. Most people feel like 30-60 minutes of work on a single day is still a Free Day. Sadly, they sell themselves on a lie that profoundly affects the balance in their lives, their overall productivity and, most importantly, the harmony in their marriage and family unit. By definition, a Free Day is any 24 hour period of time where you do absolutely NOTHING work related. You don’t check your business e-mail. You don’t read business literature or books. You don’t clean up your home office paperwork or get ready for Monday. You don’t play quick catch-up. It is a day where you do everything and anything but business-related activities.

When I first got started roughly 10 years ago, I probably only took 5 real Free Days per year. They were most likely major holidays where I felt required to take off due to family pressures, etc. In the last 4-5 years, I have managed to take 150-160 true Free Days per year. In doing so, I have been able to see my business grow and evolve while still ensuring I I took enough time off for rejuvenation and life balance. I continue to do this even while my life/business coaching client base expands and I manage Sharp Innovations, Inc. through this economic downturn. Many other entrepreneurs in this position might operate in a way that produced a lot of hysterical activity and self-added stress.

Using the Entrepreneurial Time System™ forced me to become more accountable and more productive every day. I will explain the 3 main types of days below that, when used correctly, create the magic found in this system:

Free Days – This is where the whole system starts. These are days that you take off and do NOTHING work related. You don’t do business e-mail, business reading, business strategy notes, home office clean-up, etc. You spend your day doing anything that you or your family enjoys. You rejuvenate yourself with a day detached completely from work.

Focus Days – You define 3 top activities that you perform that produce the biggest results for your company. You spend 80%+ of your day doing nothing but these activities. The balance can be spent responding to urgent e-mail, or on putting out major fires with clients or your team, though many times you can achieve closer to a 100% Focus Day as you evolve. These days should be seen as A+ game days, so to speak, where you produce results for your company.

Buffer Days – These days are probably the least favorite for entrepreneurs, leaders and managers, but are needed to make the system function properly. They are organized preparation days where you work with staff and clients on non-Focus activities, though you do it in a scheduled and organized day so you don’t operate every day at the whim of your team or clients when, often times, things can wait.

As I look at the business and life coaching clients I currently serve, I can see wide areas of common focus, including: management succession planning, team re-building, spiritual mentorship, sales/marketing consulting and strategic planning. However, the most common thread in my coaching has been teaching others this time system and watching it dynamically change their lives. If you want to find out more, I’d be glad to speak with you.
